Invitations were issued to candidates in all three of the economic immigration streams managed by the Express Entry system, including Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades (FST), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).  The minimum CRS cut-off score for this draw was 478.

Draw Number: 166

Number of Invitations Issued: 4,500
Minimum CRS: 478
Program Specified: None
Tie-breaking rule: October 26, 2020

Express Entry Draws Resume After Three-Week Hiatus

With the previous draw taking place on October 14, many were surprised when October 28 came and went with no news of an Express Entry draw. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued a statement explaining that they are now awarding extra points to Express Entry candidates with French language skills. The CRS scores of those candidates needed to be updated accordingly, which was the reason no Express Entry draw took place last week.

This Express Entry draw saw 4,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) issued to candidates with a CRS score of 478 points or higher. Three weeks ago, we saw another 4,500 invitations issued across all streams of the Express Entry system, the highest number of invitations in Express Entry history. We expect this trend to continue as Canada’s economy recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the Canadian government pledging to admit more than 1.2 million immigrants over the next three years, it is likely that we will see more frequent Express Entry draws with higher numbers of invitations than ever before.
